3BCTIO�f l; That portion of deffersor� dvenue from
the �e$t line of Sprigg Street to the East line of Benton 8treet '
together •ith the property fronting and abuttin� on said portion of
said street is hereby designated and made an improvement district for
the eprinklin�, oiling, repairing, surfacing and re-surfacing of said
a tree t.
3ECTION 2; The roadway of said street shall be re-
paired and re-surPaeed by repairing the present base where necessary
and re-eurfacing the rosdwatiy of said street between curbs or betwsen
gutters, where curb� and gutters now exist, and bet�een lines consti-
tutin� an euten$ion of exis�ing curb or gutter lines , where curbs and
gutters do not nQw exist, xith a coating af one and one-half inches
of /�fe�ite or similar bituminous asphalt surfacing.
SECTION 3; Said repairing and re-surfacing of said
�treet shall be done by the Street DepArtment of the eity of C�.pe �ir-
ardeau, l[i.ssouri , under the direction and supervision of the City
�r�ineer and all posaible assistance with respeat to labc�r and �-,- -::
terfala Whieh can be obtained shall be obtained anct re��ived by said
Street Deps�rtment from the WorkB Progress Administration so that the
total c�st of said repairing and r�-surfacing to the City of Cape
(�irardeau, �issouri , sha,ll not exceed an amount equal to sixty �6q�
cent�a per front fcrot of property abutting on ,said street.
SECT201� 4; J�n aecurate aecount shall be kept by the
City Engineer cf the cost of said work, eaclusive of donations by
and from said �forks Progress Adminietration, and such �osta ehall be
defrayed by & BDECf,l&.1 tax to be aeaessed, in favor of the �ity of
Cape Girardeau, Yisec�uri, on the property fronting and abutting on
said portion aP said $treet 3n proportion that the linear feet of
each lot fronting and abutting on said portion of said street bears
to the tatal number of linear f eet of all �the property �ithin the
improvement di�trict hereinbefore created.
SECTION 5 ; Upon the completion of said work the
City I�ngineer shall report to the Council the total cost of said re-
pairing and re-surfacing of said portion of said street, the total
number of linear feet of property fronting and abutting thereon and
the proportioae,te share of euch tctal cost chaxgeable against each
1oL, tract, or pascel oF land frontin� and abutting on said portion �f
said street in aceordance with the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 6; Upon the filing of such report by the
City Engineer the City Council shall examine the same and if said
report be found to be correct and the total cost of said repairing
aad re-surfscing dae� nnt �eeed s�iaty (60f�) cents per front foot

ssid street, the �ouncil shall levy and asaeas a apecial tax against
said property in accordance with said report.
SECTI01� 7; This ordinance shall take effect and �
be in Forae from and after its passa�e.
