the City of Cape t�irardeau, �i ssouri , w1. Y. BrTcUeor�;e �c Company �.greed
to improve accor. din, ta the terms in said contract, Benton Str�et
between Independer�ce itreet and •rhemis Street in s�.id city within a �
specified time, which time is now about to expire, and
9UHEREAS, owing to excessive and cantinual rainf��11 during a
large part of the time throu�;h �+iay and June , 1924 and fre�uent ra.ins
to tY.is date durin� the montYz of .luly, 1924, eaid period being the
time within wh3ch the said �1. P. I�c�eoxge & Com�any had to so improve
said street, and
�JHEP�AS, durin�; said rainy season the city engineer of sa�id
City of Cape �irardeau, v�ho had the superintend�.n� control over the
improvement of said street by said contractor, was unwi113.n� to take
the chance af putting do�m concrete for a permanerrt street upon a
soft subsurface and �ras ur1w�.Ilin� �o cause to be laid a large amount
of concrete the hardening of which would necessarily be prevented and
interferred w3th by certain approaching rainfall, and
�TI�REAS, the said w. r. Mc�eorg� �c Company, contractor, has, '
because of such condition� beyond i.ta control, been neceasarily* de-
l�.yed in c�rrying out its eaid contract with s�.id city to imprc�ve that
part of said $treet a.s aforeeaid, and has requested that the Ccnancil
grant it an extenaion of time for the perfavnance of said conti�act to
impxove said strset,

SECT ION 1: --�It is hereby ordered that v�. P. �t[ct�eorge �c Company
of Pine .�luff, Arkansas, contractor for the improvement of that, part
af Benton Street between Independerce Street and lhemis Street �.n said
C3ty of Cape �irarded�u, Missouxi , �� �;iven a,n extension of 90 clays
within which to complete ite coAtract with the city for said 9.mprove-
raent . -
SECTION 2: --1'his o rdinance sh��l be in force and take e:ffect
from and a.fter its passage.
