Every person and all persons, firms or corporations �rho � sha.11 engage in or in any way aid or assist in the carrying on of the busin�ss of a paxn broker, dealer in second hand goods or junk deal�r � in this Qity shall keep a book in which shall be vuritten legibly in � or with indelible pencil ink�at the time of the purch�se, pa�►n, taking or receiving of any goods, articles or thing, an aceurate account and description in the Fnglish languAge of the goods, articles or thing purch�sed, pawned� taken or received, the a�ouat of saoney paid therefor, the time of pur- � chasing, t�king or securing the sar�e; ths name and residence of the - person selling, pawning or delivering such goods, artiales or thing � and a deseription of the parson or persons (as near as may be} from E �rhom the same were purchased, taken or received, the person or firrn � of persons so purchasing, taking or receiving any watch shall also � , a►rite in such book the name of the �aker of said Watah and its number, and any monogram, name or initial or other marks thereon, and when �ewelry or gold or silver articles of ang kind are purchased, tsken or received, such person or persons shall note in said book al1 letters or marks described, en�raved or cut thereo�. No person or firat of persons or corporation angaged � � in business as parm broker, �unk dealer or dealer in second hand gooda, �' shall purchase or receive any goods, articles or thing oP value, egcept �. � rags, paper and bones, offered such person, firm or corporation from any £ person under Lhe a�e of sixtesn years or from any person who is at the ticne intoxicated, or from any person who is an �abitual drunkard, or �' kno�ingly take or purchase from any s�ervant or apprentice any good�, article or thing of valns, withont first asoertaining that $uah article � or thing is the propert� of Lhe person or persons offering to sell or pledge the same. Provided that if the said person, firm of person� or corporation engaged in business as a pawnbroker or �unk dealer or dealer in second hand goods shall personally be acquainted with and kno�r a boy under the age of sixteen yeare and know where he livsa, he may , - purchase goods from said boy under the age of sixteen yeara if the boy furni�hes a wr3tten ' permit from his parents or guardian giving the de- y -2-
