TION OF THE RESULT THEREOF.
WHEREAS , a certain amEnded petition was filed with thE City
Clerk on December 10, 1954, signed by 1, �72 electors of tr.e City of
Cape Girardeau, ��iissouri, qualified to vote for a successor of
Fhillip Steck, Gommissioner, demanding an election of a successor
of the said Phillip Steck, which said amended petition is sufficient
under the provisions of Sections 73. 260 to 7�. 29Q, inclusive,
Revised Statutes of Missouri for 1949, to require the holdin� of
an election under such law; and
WHEREAS , the City Clerlc submitted said amended petition
to the City Council on December 20, 1954, together with her
certificate showing the same to be sufficient ; and
WHEREAS , the City Council deems such anended petition to
be su£ficient to require the calling of an election under the
law aforesaid; and
WHEREI��S, the Mayor of the Ci.ty of Cape �ir:rdeau has, by
proclamation of even date herewith, desi;nated the 25th day af
Janu�.ry, 1955 , as the date of holding such speci�l ��ection for
such purpose; NQG� THEREFURE,

GIRARDE:-�.U, N�ISSGURI , AS FULLOWS:
SECTION 1: That a special election be held on the 25th
day of January, 1955 , in the City of Cape Girardeau, N�issouri,
and the same is hereby called and ordered to be held in said
city on said date, for the purpose of electing a �ember of the
City Council for the balance of th.e unexpired term oi Phillip
Steck; that the polls o� said special election sh�,ll be kept
open �ro� the hour of Six OtClock in the forenoon until the hour
of Seven OtClock in the afternoon of said day; and that the
polling places at said special election shall be as follows :

SECTIGN 2: There shall be four (4) jud��-es of election at
each pollin4 place , who shall rcceive as compensation for their
services the sum of Seven Dollars {�7�00) per day, and wiio shall
act as Clerks of Election. The following named persons shall
be, and they are hereby appointed as judges of said election.

prepare and cause to be published in the Southsast l�qissourian,
a daily newspaper of general circulation in the City of Cape
Girardeau, Caunty of Cape Girarde�,u, State of T�issouri, a notice
of said special election in substantially the following form:

Notice is hereby given that a special election
will be held in the City of Cape Girardeau, C�,pe
Girardeau County, State of I�iissouri, on the 25�h
day of January, 1955 , pur. suant to a proclamation
of the 2;ayor issued on the 23rd day of December,
7-954, and an ordinance pz�ssed by the City Council
o� said city at a meetin�; held on the 23rd day of
December, 1954, for the purpose of electing a
member of the City Council for the balance of
the u,�.expired term of Phillip Steck, as provided
for by Sections 7�. 260 to 7$.290� inclusive,

The said notice shall be published in said newspaper in at
least five (5) issues thereof, the first such r�ublication to be not
less than thirty (30) days prior t� the said 25th day of January,
1955 .
SECTION 5: That the City Clerk shall be� and she hereby
is, authorized and directed to have prspared and furnish to the
judges of election all necessary poll books, ballots, ta11y sheets
and other supplies for use at said election, and that the
arran�ements for holdin� such election be made as required by
Section 7g. 260 to 78. 29�, Revised Statutes of Missouri for 1949
and other laws ; that the sa�e be conducted , returned and the
result thereof declared in all respects as are other city
elections ; and that the ballots to be so supplied shall be in
substantially the following form:
