CITY MANAGER FORM ORDINANCE NUMBER �^
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY MANAGER FORM ORDINANCE
NUMBER 68 , RELATING TO CIVIL SERVICE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, as follows:
SECTION 1. City Manager Form Ordinance No. �_, relating to
Civil Service, is hereby amended by adding thereto Sectinn 4. 0203 (10),
as follows:
" Section 4. 0203 (10). Any official or employee in the City classified
service who is under Civil Service shall be retired as an official
or employee of the City of Cape Girardeau at the end of the month
in which such official or employee attains his or her sixty-fifth
birthday. Any such official or employee sub,ject to retirement upon
attaining the age of 65 years upon the request of the employee and
approval of the employee's department head, the City Manager and
fina.l approval of the Council, may be retained in the job capacity
in which such employee is engaged at the time of his 65th birthday,
for a period of one year from the end of the calendar month in which
the sixty-fifth birthday occurrs. Such request must be made and
approved as required herein on or before 30 days prior to the attaining
of the 65th birthday, In the event such one year extension is granted
as provided for herein, additional successive one year extensions may
be granted such employee or official, but each extension shall be for
one year only and each extension must be approved after request by
the employee by the Department Head, the City Manager and the City
Council. The request for extension must be made in writing by the
employee and submitted to his Department Head or to the City Manager
at least 90 days before the sixty-fifth birthday of such employee or
before the end of each year's extension that may be granted. "

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten
days after its passage and approval.
