AN ORDSNANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCE5
OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MIS50URI, BY REPEA�ING SECTION
10-2 AND BY ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1971 EDITION ,
IN LIEU THEREOF
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Girardeau is �urrently
operating under the National Electrical Code, 1968 Edition,
which is 5ection 10-.2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and
WHEREA5, the National Fire Protection Association,
under the auspices of the American National 5tandards Institute,
has adopted a revised National Electrical Code, 1971 Edition; and
WHEREAS, tkere is a need for the City of Cape Girardeau,
Missouri, to update its Electrical Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CAPE GIRA.RDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
5ECTION l. 5ection 10-2 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. The City of Cape Gixardeau hereby adopts
the 1971 Edition of the National Electrical Code, published
by the National Fire Protection Association, a copy of which is
attached hereto and incorporated herein by refererice as part
of this ordinance as E�ibit "A" , the provisions of which
shall govern and control electrical wiring in the City of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri, except as modified or amerided in Chapter
10 of the Code of Ordinances . This Section shall replace
Section 10-2 , which has been repealed by 5ection 1 of this
Ordinance.
SECTION 3 . If any section, subs.ection, seritence,
clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason
held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct

and independerit provision and such holding sha11 not affect
the validity of the remaining portions hereof.
SECTION 4. Thi:s ordinance shall be in fu11 force
and effect ten days after its passage and approval.
