�., AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE BY
ADDING A NEW SECTION 2-15 WHICH ESTABLISHES A
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION l . Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri , is hereby amended by adding the
following Section 2-15 :
Sec . 2-15 . Community Development Department
A community development department is hereby
established . The department shall be headed by the
director of community development who shall be appointed
by and responsible to the city manager . The community
development department shall coordinate city activities
pertaining to community and economic development , provide
staff to the Planning and Zoning Commission, implement the
Comprehensive Development Plan , administer land use and
zoning regulations , perform building inspections and
enforce the City ' s building codes and administer grant
programs related to community development . The department
�.,� shall perform such other functions as may be prescribed by
the city manager .
SECTION 2. If any section , subsection , sentence , clause,
phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid
or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction , such
portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent
provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions hereof .
SECTION 3. It is the intention of the governing body and it
is hereby ordained that the provisions of this ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri , and the sections of this Code may be
renumbered to accomplish such intention .
SECTION 4 . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
ten days after its passage and approval .
