AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION IN THE CITY OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU , MISSOURI , ON THE QUESTION WHETHER
THE CITY SHALL IMPOSE A SALES TAX OF ONE-FOURTH
OF ONE PER CENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS ; DESIGNATING THE TIME OF
HOLDING THE ELECTION ; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO GIVE NOTICE OF THE ELECTION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . An elEction is hereby orcered to be held in the
City of Cape Girardeau , Missouri , on Tuesday, November 6 , 1990 , on
the following question :
QUESTION
Shall the municipality of Cape Girardeau , Missouri ,
impose a sales tax of one-fourth of one percent (1/4$ )
for the limited purpose of funding capital imprcvements
for construction of a softball/soccer tournament complex ,
land acquisition for City parks , and other general
capital improvements in the City parks , which may include
the retirement of debt under previously authorized bonded
indebtedness for such limited purposes , such capital
improvement sales tax to begin January l , 1991 and to
terminate automatically three ( 3) years thereafter?
SECTION 2 . The form of the notice of election for the
election , a copy of which is hereby attached and made a part
hereof , is hereby approved.
SECTION 3. The City Cleck is hereby authorized and directeG
to notify the County Clerk of Cape Girardeau County , Misscuri , of
the passage of this ordinance no later than 5 : 00 o ' clock P. M. on
September 11 , 1990 , and to include in the notification all of the
terms and provisions � equired by t;e ComprEhensive Election Act ,
Chapter 115 , Missouri Revised Statutes , as arr�ended,
SECTION 4 . This ordinance shall take effect ten days from
and after its passaqe and approval .

Notice is hereby qiven to the qualified voters of the City
of Cape Girardeau , Missouri , that the City Council of the City has
called an election to be held in the City on November 6 , 1990 ,
commencinq at 6 :00 o ' clock A.M, and closing at 7 :00 c ' clock P. M.
on the question contained in the followinq sample ballot :
