AN ORDINANCE ENACTING A NEW SECTION 26-231 OF
THE CITY CODE AND ESTABLISHING SCHEDULE U
ENTITLED "BRIDGE WEIGHT LIMITS"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE 1. Chapter 26 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is hereby amended by the addition of
one (1) new section to be denominated Section 26-231 pertaining to
"Bridge Weight Limits" , in words and figures, to read as follows,
to-wit:
Sec. 26-231. Bridge Weight Limits.
It is unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle
of a weight in excess of the maximum limit on or over any
bridge upon which such maximum weight limits have been
established and described by city ordinances and set out
in Schedule U, hereby adopted and incorporated by
reference, said Schedule U to be titled "Bridge Weight
Limits" .
ARTICLE 2 . Schedule U of Section 26-231 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is hereby
established by the listing of bridges, in the City of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri, at the following locations:
On Bloomfield Road over Ramsey Branch -- Nine (9) tons.
On Hopper Road over Cape LaCroix Creek -- Eight (8) tons
Single Unit Truck; sixteen (16) tons Large Semi-trailer
Truck.
On East Rodney over Cape LaCroix Creek -- Eight (8) tons
Single Unit Truck; Fifteen (15) tons Large Semi-trailer
Truck.
On Main Street over Sloan Creek -- Fifteen (15) tons
Single Unit Truck; thirty-six (36) tons Large Semi-
trailer Truck.
On Big Bend Road over Sloan Creek -- Fifteen (15) tons
Single Unit Truck; thirty-six (36) tons Large Semi-
trailer Truck.
On South Sprigg Street over Cape LaCroix Creek --
Fourteen (14) tons Single Unit Truck; twenty-nine (29)
tons Large Semi-trailer Truck.

ARTICLE 3 . If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid
or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such
portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent
provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions hereof.
ARTICLE 4 . It is the intention of the governing body and it
is hereby ordained that the provisions of this ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the sections of this Code may be
renumbered to accomplish such intention.
ARTICLE 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
ten days after its passage and approval.
