AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION IN THE CITY
OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, ON THE QUESTION
WHETHER ARTICLE VII, SECTION 7 . 01 (a) , OF THE
CITY CHARTER OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI,
SHALL BE AMENDED REGARDING CITY ELECTIONS;
DESIGNATING THE TIME OF HOLDING THE ELECTION;
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
GIVE NOTICE OF THE ELECTION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE l. An election is hereby ordered to be held in the
City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 7 , 1998 , on the
following question:
OUE3TION
Shall Article VII, Section 7. 01 (a) , in the paragraph
entitled "City Elections" , of the Charter of the City of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri, be amended to read as follows:
" (a) General elections. The city general election
shall be held on the municipal general election day which
shall be the first Tuesday after the first Monday in
April in each even numbered year. "
ARTICLE 2 . The form of the notice of election, a copy of
which is hereby attached and made a part hereof, is hereby
approved.
ARTICLE 3 . The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to notify the County Clerk of Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, of
the passage of this ordinance no later than 5:00 o'clock P.M. on
January 27 , 1998 , and to include in the notification all the terms
and provisions required by the Comprehensive Election Act,
Chapter 115, Missouri Revised Statutes, as amended.
ARTICLE 4 . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
ten days after its passage and approval.

NOTICE OF ELECTION
CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI
Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of the City of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri, that the City Council of the City has
called an election to be held in the City on April 7 , 1998 ,
commencing at 6: 00 o'clock A.M. and closing at 7 : 00 o'clock P.M. on
the question contained in the following sample ballot:
