iiissouri, have not been changed for more than fifty years, but remain
as fixed by act of the i+eneral Assembly of the State of Missouri, ap-
proved i,darch 29th, 1872, and,

numbers since said boundaries were established, during which time a
large part of the territory Immediately adjacent to such corporate lim-
its has become densely populated, and a large part of the real estate
adjacent to such corporate limits has been platted, subdivided, and
sold and other parts of same is either being platted, subdivided and
sold, or is suitable for city residences and business purposes, and,
it is the opinion of the Council of said city that
the interests of the future development of said city unmistakably re-
quire that the limits of said city be extended so as to include all of

SECTION 1. A special election is hereby ordered for Satur-
day, the 17th day of January, 1925, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of the 'City of Jape uirardeau the proposition as to
whether or not the corporate limits of said city shall be extended so
as to embrace and include all that territory in Cape t-iirardeau County
lying within the following boundary lines, to -wit: -
.beginning at a point in the center of the channel of
the 1.7ississi-ooi Aiver intersected by an extension of the north
boundary line of Section 20, Township 30 north, Stange 14 east
of the County of Cape Girardeau and State of �issouri; thence
west along the extension of said section line to the west bank
of the I;iississippi river; thence west along the line between
;erections 20 and 17 :and -the line between Sections 19 and 18,
in ownship 30 north, !Lange 14 east and on the line between
Sections 24 and 13 in -i-ownsh.ip 30 north, Mange 13 east, to
the southeast corner of U. S. private survey Ido. 812; thence
north 16Q east along the east line of U. S. private survey
Ido. 812 to the northeast corner of said private survey No.
812; thence west along the north line of U. S. private sur-
vey Ivo. 812 to a point midway between the southeast corner and
the southwest corner of outlot 62 of U. S. private survey Ivo.

SECTION 2: The mayor of this City shall give notice of such
special election by proclamation, and such notice shall be published in the
Cay }e Girardeau Southeast Missourian each day said palper is published after
the date of the passage of this ordinance to the date of said election, and
such notice shall state the time and -places of holding said election and
shall describe the boundary lines above proposed.
SEC'TIOI 3: Such special election shall be held and conducted
in the same -manner as other municipal elections are held and conducted in
this City and the proposition as to whether or not the boundaries of said
City shall be extended as above described, and no other shall be submitted
to the voters of said City at such election.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to
prepare and cause to be printed ballots to be used at such special election,
such ballots to be in the following fors:
For Extention of city limits . . . . . . . . . . . yes.

.All of those voting in such special election who are in favor of said pro-
posed boundaries shall indicate such fact as first above shown, and those
who are opposed to said proposed boundaries shall indicate such fact as last
above shown.
SECTION 5: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its passage.
