ORDINANCE NO. 13, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 20TH DAY
OF APRIL, 1918s "ENTITLED, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
A POLICE COURT, PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF A POLICE
JUDGE, PRESCRIBING HIS QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES, AND
THE JURISDICTION OF THE COURT, AND PRESCRIBING RULES
AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING. TIM PROCEEDINGS TIMREIN,
AND TO REPEAL ORDINANCES NOS. 951 AND 974." AND TO EN-
ACT IN LIEU THEREOF A NEVA SECTION TO BE N=RED SEC -

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, IJISSOIRI,
AS FOLLOViS : -
SECTION 1:- That Section #5 of Commission Form Ordinance No.
13, passed and approved on the 20th day of April, 1918, entitled, "An
Otdinance establishing a Police Court, providing for the election of a
Police Judge, prescribing his qualifications and duties, and the juris-
diction of the Court, and prescribing rules and regulations governing
the proceedings therein, and to repeal Ordinances Nos. 951 and 97411,
be and the same is hereby repealed and a new section to be numbered
Section #5 shall be as follows: -
SECTION 5:- DUTIES The Police Judge shall be a conservator
of the peace, and shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear and de-
termine all offenses against the Ordinances of the City; and no change
of venue shall be granted or taken in any trial before the Police
Judge for the violation of any City Ordinance.
'\� He shall keep a docket, in which he shall enter every case
commenced before him, and make an entry of all Orders in the proceed-
ings therein; and he shall deliver said docket and all books and
papers pertaining to his gffice to his successor in office.
If the Police Judge be absent, sick or disqualified from act-
ing; the Mayor shall designate some suitable person of maid City to
temporarily act as Police Judge until such absence or disqualification
shall. cease, or until the Council eleQts his successor.
SECTION 2:- This Ordinance shall be in force and take effect
from and after its passage.
