AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU BY CHANG-
ING THE ZONING OF A STRIP OF LAND BETWEEN HENDERSON
STREET AND PARK AVENUE, LYING 78 FEET NORTH OF
INDEPENDENCE STREET. TO CLASS 'IF" COMMERICAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended
that all of the property described in Section 1 of this ordinance should be re-
zoned Class 'IF" Commercial District, and
WHEREAS, public notice of such change in zoning was given as
prescribed by Chapter 25 of the general ordinances of the City of Cape
Girardeau, and public hearing was held in conf-armity with such notice by
the City Council on October 19th, 1966,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, as follows.
SECTION Io Chapter 25 of, the general ordinances of the City of
Cape Girardeau is hereby amended to change the boundary of the present
Glass 'IF" Commercial District so as to include the following described
property,
The north 78 feet of Independence Street from Park Avenue
to Henderson Avenue described as follows:
Begin at the northeast corner of the intersection of Indepen-
dence Street and Park Avenue; thence in a general northerly
direction along the east right of way of Park Avenue 78 feet
to a point; thence in a general easterly direction parallel
with the north right of way, line of Independence Street to a
point at the west right of way line of Henderson Avenue 78-
feet
8feet from the northwest corner of the intersection of
Independence Street and Henderson Avenue; thence in a
general southerly direction along the west right of way line
of Henderson Avenue 78 feet to the northwest corner of the
intersection of Independence Street and Henderson Avenue
for a point; thence in a general westerly direction along the
north right of way line of Independence Street to the point of
beginning.

SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds and declares that the
property described in Section 1 hereof is at the present time particularly
suitable for the uses and purposes of Class "F" Commercial District,

and that such change authorized hereby is reasonable and in reasonable
conformity with the existing use and value of the immediately surrounding
properties.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten
days after its passage and approval.
