AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, RELATING
TO CEMETERIES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIM CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 18�I3 is hereby repealed and the following
substituted in lieu thereof:
18.13 GRAVE SPACE CONS
A. The fallowing prices shall be charged for lots or grave spaces
in all city owned cemeteries:
Single space grave -- $25. 002, 4 spaces (1/2 lot) - $90. 00;
8 spaces (1 lot) _ $175, 00..
SECTION 2. Section 18.15 of the general ordinances of the City of
Cape Girardeau is hereby repealed and the following added in lieu thereof:
18.15 FEES FOR OPENING GRAVES
A. There shall be a charge for the opening of a grave which amount
shall be paid to the City Clerk by the funeral director not later than the
10th day of the month following the grave opening, as follows:
Mausoleum burial permit - $30. 00; single adult space - $30. 00;
Infant grave (3 feet or less.) - $10. 00.
B. Of the amount received for grave opening as set out in the previous
subsection A the city shall receive $5. 00 and the sexton $25. 00, except for
infant grave openings the city shall receive $5. 00 and the sexton $5. 00.
C. Burial in any city owned cemetery shall be in a casket enclosed
in a wooden box or a vault of concrete or metal.
SECTION 3. Chapter 18 of the general ordinances of the City of Cape
Girardeau is finally amended by adding Section 18.155, as follows:
18. 155 MAUSOLEUM BURIAL
All funeral directors desiring to bury deceased persons in the mausoleum

building in the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, shall apply to the City
Clerk for a burial permit to be issued for a fee of $30. 00. Upon receipt
of the application the City Clerk shall issue a certificate. showing the
name of the deceased person, the name of the funeral director and the
section and space in the mausoleum building that is to be used to inter
the deceased person. All funeral directors who shall make application
for .a certificate for burial in said mausoleum building shall be required
to bear the cost of opening and closing the space in said mausoleum building
wherein such deceased person shall be interred.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten days
.after its passage and approval.
