AN ORDINANCE CALLING FOR A REFERENDUM ON AN ORDINANCE WHICH
AUTHORIZES THE EXECUTION OF A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,-=MISSOURI, AND THE PUBLIC HOUSING
AUTHORITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, TO BUILD ONE HUNDRED
SEVENTY-FIVE (175) UNITS OF PUBLIC HOUSING, BY CALLING A
SPECIAL ELECTION FOP SAID REFERENDUM TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 4,
1570
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape
Girardeau,,Missouri, passed an Ordinance Authorizing the
Execution of a Cooperation Agreement; and
WHEREAS, certain Citizens of the City of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri, presented Petitions within ten (10).
days from the time of the final passage of the Ordinance
protesting the passage of this Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, said Petitions have :been Certified by
the City Clerk that they were signed by a number of
electors of the City, equal in number to twenty-five (25)
percentof the voters who voted in the last preceeding
general municipal election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That a Special Referendum Election
is hereby called to submit an Ordinance'Authorizing the
Execution of a Cooperation Agreement between the City
of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the Public Housing
Authority of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, ,to the voters at
a Referendum to beheld on August 4,.1970, to determine
whether or not the voters of the City of Cape Girardeau,.
Missouri,.approve or disapprove the Ordinance Authorizing
the 'Execution of a Cooperation Agreement to build one
hundred seventy-five (175) units of public housing.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed and
authorized to take all necessary steps to have proper

ballots printed to submit this question to the Citizens
in accordance with law and to arrange for all necessary
election procedures, including any publications which
may be required by law.
SECTION 3. Due to tie date of August 4,-1970,
for the Special Referendum Election being close at hand,
there exists an emergency for the timely passage"of
this Ordinance therefore, this Ordinance shall become
effective immediately upon its passage and appy 1,
