AN ORDINANCE NAMING NEW MISSOURI ROUTE 74 IN
THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS
SHAWNEE PARKWAY
WHEREAS, The Missouri Department of Transportation has
constructed, and is constructing, a new street/highway designated
Missouri Route 74, and;
WHEREAS, The City Council deems it necessary to name said
street/highway, and;
WHEREAS, said street/highway extends or will extend westward
from the eastern City limits on the new Mississippi River bridge
under construction to its western terminus at the west end of said
street/highway's interchange with U.S. Interstate Highway 55, and;
WHEREAS, for purposes of fire and police protection, medical
and other emergency services, and the general convenience of the
public at large, a suitable name for said street/highway is needed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE 1. The above described street/highway, previously
known only as Missouri Route 74, is hereby named Shawnee Parkway.
Said name also to apply to any future extensions of said
street/highway unless determined otherwise by the City Council.
ARTICLE 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
ten days after its passage and approval.
