AN ORDINANCE NAMING MOUNT AUBURN ROAD, FROM
BLOOMFIELD ROAD TO ITS TERMINUS WITH SOUTH
KINGSHIGHWAY, IN THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
MISSOURI
WHEREAS, for purposes of fire and police protection, medical
and other emergency services, and the general convenience of the
occupants along said street and the public at large, it is deemed
necessary to apply a suitable name to said street, and;
WHEREAS, for the purpose of issuing street addresses,
representatives from various City Departments made recommendations
for a street name;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE 1. The street constructed south of Bloomfield Road as
an extension of the existing Mt. Auburn Road, including the section
previously referred to in planning and construction as "Southern
Expressway", from Bloomfield Road to its terminus with South
Kingshighway, is hereby named Mount Auburn Road.
ARTICLE 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
ten days after its passage and approval.

Dear Mayor and Council Members:
RE: Ordinance Naming Mount Auburn Road from Bloomfield Road to its
Terminus with South Kingshighway
As was discussed at the joint City Council -School Board meeting on October 8, 2001,
and the staff discussed with the Planning Commission earlier, we are hereby presenting an
ordinance that will officially name Mount Auburn Road through the new sections constructed
south of Bloomfield Road and including that section between Silver Springs Road and South
Kingshighway previously referred to as "Southern Expressway". This will place the break
between the names Mount Auburn Road and Southern Expressway at the signalized intersection
at Kingshighway and follow the convention used at the Mount Auburn Road -Lexington Avenue
intersection.
With the pending completion of construction of this street, this is an appropriate time to
proceed with the official naming. Staff recommends that the Council proceed with the adoption
of the attached ordinance.
