Chairman Walker called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM. Robertson made a
motion to approve the minutes of the 4/12/94 meeting as mailed. Nester seconded
and the motion carried.
Heldman reported all parking lot signage and the ornamental fencing and gates
are up; however, the manufacturer installed the locks in the gates backwards. Penzel
has been notified and they are working on correcting the situation. Striping of the
parking lot is to be done the week of 5123/94, weather permitting; directional arrows
are included in the striping. Heldman will call David Budd on 5/11194 concerning the
ramp project; the State of Missouri is holding up the process.
On 5/9/94 Heldman and Walker met with the man interested in investing in CGI,
as well as one of his investors. The core group is made up of specialists, retired
McDonnell Douglas engineers. They are talking about making an FBO the first part of
their business. if CCA's problems are corrected, the group will negotiate with them;
however, they do not want their clients to see CCA in its current state. The company,
TSII (Technical Services International, Inc.), has offices in St. Louis and Salt Lake City
but are not interested in any of the St. Louis area airports; they like CGI due to its
location. John Mehner and Mitch Robinson also met with the men.
Industrial development could be started at the north end of the airport.
International companies may also be interested in our location; Emerson, Danforth and
Gephardt have been contacted. Overbey stated if enough jobs are created state
grants could be acquired.
Enplanements for April totalled 510, which is the highest month we've had in five
years. The first four months of this year surpasses the same time period in 1993 by
22%. Daily enplanements, which is the figure the DOT looks at, were at 20 for 4/94.
EAS is guaranteed for two years; we are currently offering one flight more per day
than the minimum required by EAS. There is a slight possibility TWE will have more
planes available for new routes later in the year.
Holdman brought the Airport Board up-to-date on events which will be occurring at
CGI in the near future. An FAA -sponsored Poker Run will be held Saturday, May 14
with CGI being one of the final destinations. FAA estimates as many as 30 or 40
airplanes landing here if the weather cooperates. On Thursday evening, June 9 a
"Wings" program will be held from 7:00 to 9:00.
