Dear Scott,
I am writing to request that the City of Cape Girardeau consider supporting the needs
analysis/community survey. Support is needed to continue to pursue a community college/
technical school taxing district in the Cape Girardeau Region.
The Committee for Affordable Technical Education has been formed by the districts of
Cape Girardeau,Jackson and Perryville. The committee has submitted a letter of intent to the
Department of Higher Education Workforce Development. The Coordinating Board has
accepted the letter of intent. The next step in the process is the needs analysis/community
survey.
The cost of the consultant to do the work is$98,375 and MGT Consulting would be
contracted to perform the needs analysis/community survey. To date I have commitments
from the City of Perryville for$10,000 and Perry County for$10,000. I am also working with the
city of Jackson, the IDA of Cape Girardeau County and others to fund this project.
As the Chairman for the Committee for Affordable Technical Education. I would like to
formally request consideration from City of Cape Girardeau to support this regional effort to
provide a much needed part of our educational system in this region.
Sincerely,
Rich Payne
Chairman •
Committee for Affordable Technical Education.
