A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ELECTION
SCHEDULE FOR THE SELECTION OF A COUNCIL
MEMBER FROM WARD 3, IN THE CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE 1. The Council does hereby determine and find that
a vacancy exists in the Ward Three (3) Council seat by reason of
the fact that the Ward Three (3) Council Member has resigned
from office.
ARTICLE 2. That the Charter of the City of Cape Girardeau,
Missouri, requires that a special election be held to select a
new Council Member from Ward Three (3).
ARTICLE 3. The City Council hereby adopts the Election
Schedule attached to this Resolution and made part hereof by
incorporation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS / DAY OF 2014.

April 9, 2.014 Petitions available for
pickup from City Clerk
April 22, 2014 Filing Period Opens
May 20, 2014 Filing Period Closes
May 21-27, 2014 Special City Council Meeting
at which time the City
Council will adopt an
emergency election ordinance
setting an election for
August 5, 2014. This may be
a "primary election" if more
than two (2) candidates file
for the office or it may be
designated as a "general"
election if two (2) or fewer
candidates file for the
office.
May 27, 2014 Election Notice to County
Clerk
August 5, 2014 Election
August 26, 2014 Election Notice to County
Clerk for November Election
if August Election is a
Primary Election
November 4, 2014 Special General Election if
the August Election is a
Primary Election
