RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ELECTION
SCHEDULE FOR THE SELECTION OF A COUNCIL
MEMBER FROM WARD 6, IN THE CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE 1. The Council does hereby determine and find that
as of January 9, 2013, a vacancy will exist in the Ward Six (6)
Council seat by reason of the fact that the Ward Six (6) Council
Member has been elected to a seat in the Missouri House of
Representatives.
ARTICLE 2. The Charter of the City of Cape Girardeau,
Missouri, requires that a special election be held to select a
new Council Member from Ward Six (6).
ARTICLE 3. The City Council hereby adopts the Election
Schedule attached to this Resolution and made part hereof by
reference. /

December 18, 2012 Filing Period Opens
January 15, 2013 Filing Period Closes
January 16-22, 2013 Special City Council Meeting
at which time the City
Council will adopt an
emergency election ordinance
setting an election for April
2, 2013. This may be a
"primary election" if more
than two (2) candidates file
for the office or it may be
designated as a "general"
election if two (2) or fewer
candidates file for the
office.
January 22, 2013 Election Notice to County
Clerk
May 28, 2013 Election Notice to County
Clerk for August Election if
April Election is a Primary
Election
April 2, 2013 Election
August 6, 2013 Special General Election if
the April Election is a
Primary Election
